Poshaak

Printed Cotton Poshaak - Mixed colours

₹299

The Fact

The pleated cotton poshaak — fabric gathered from a central point and folded outward in uniform radiating folds — has been the standard of daily temple seva across India for centuries. Its construction is deliberate: the radial pleating allows the poshaak to settle evenly around the murti regardless of size, draping cleanly without pinning or adjusting. Every morning, in thousands of homes and temples across India, this is the first thing placed on him. Before the embellishment, before the festival poshaak, before anything else — this one.

The Science

Printed cotton fabrics used in daily seva have a four-hundred-year precedent in the Vrindavan temple tradition. The Bankey Bihari temple still changes the murti into printed cotton for daily poshaak, rotating through the colours of the week. This piece continues that tradition exactly.

Alankar — Styling Note

An everyday red Alankar, quieter than the festive version. A simple coral bead mala at the neck and a single red flower at the base. The cotton construction means it can be dressed and undressed without the care that cotton demands.
